My ‘Why’ painting is among the most personal to me. Each of us has many moments where we just want to know why something happened. Why is this happening to me? Why is this happening in the world? And, of course, one perhaps we have all thought or cried out loud “WHY GOD!”
This is the first painting where I incorporated a 3-dimensional feature. The left had is an actual casting made of my hand. A picture really doesn’t capture the detail of the hand, but I think it was impactful and like it. I enjoyed this addition so much, that I’ve used castings in other works (but switched from plaster that can break to rubber).
